Primary and Secondary Schools 2018 (ASMOPSS)
Paramount School took the opportunity to host Asian Science & Mathematics Olympiad for Primary and Secondary Schools 2018 (ASMOPSS). Woohoo!
ASMOPSS is an international, once a year event. This year’s competition was held on September 15th, 2018. Followed by more than 122 participants registered from 30 different schools in Palembang. For the best participants will qualify for the national selection as delegations of Indonesia at ASMOPSS 2018 in Jogjakarta.
The aim of this competition is to facilitate a productive academic extracurricular event for students, but also to provide students’ skill building opportunities in Math and Science and other areas such as time management. Students are asked to solve 30 problems in 90 minutes, the problems are designed to test mathematical and science thinking and questions are designed so that they can be answered just as quickly without a calculator as with one. The problems get more difficult through the competition, so that at the end they are challenging to the most gifted students. Students of all standards will make progress through the problems, and also be challenged along the way.
"A high-profile competition like the International Math and Science Olympiad gives us the opportunity to bring math and science into the common consciousness," said Brian the participant of the event.
Anyway, congratulations to M. Akbar Hakim Rasadiputra student of Paramount Secondary School for being top 40 scorer on Asian Science & Mathematics Olympiad for Primary and Secondary Schools 2018 (ASMOPSS 2018) Competition for Indonesian regional.
